Browns Finalize Coaching Staff

As first reported on the OBR, the team has added some additional coaches to Romeo Crennel's staff.

The Browns today announced the additions of Mike Sullivan, Umberto Leone, and Frank Verducci to the team's coaching staff. Like many of this year's off-season changes, OBR subscribers were well aware this change was in the offing. The additions of Sullivan and Verducci were first reported to fans earlier this week by Adam Caplan in the OBR's Ask the Insiders forum.

Sullivan will work with the team's new offensive line coach, Steve Marshall, as his assistant, apparently replacing previous assistant offensive line coach Jeff Uhlenhake. Sullivan was with the Browns under Butch Davis, serving as an offensive assistant from 2001 through 2004.

Verducci joins the team as an offensive assistant, with our sources telling the OBR that he will work in several areas on the offensive side of the ball. What Verducci lacks in publicly disclosed specifics about his job, however, is made up for with experience. Verducci has been a coach for 25 years, including six years with the Bills, Bengals, and Cowboys. He also has experience working with offensive line, having served as OL coach for the Bills in 2005.

Umberto Leone will be the team's defensive quality control coach. Leone has been a coaching assistant with the team over the past two seasons, and served as a student intern on the Ohio State coaching staff from 2002 through 2005.
